My name is Brian Montgomery Jr. I am the Director of Sales Training and Business Development for E-Cover Me Insurance and President of Montgomery Enterprises. I am human and have emotions like every other person. In a profession that requires sales you have to have thick skin. This makes sales tough sometimes. However, there are days where it is all worth it. Today was one of those days for me.
The main thing I help my clients with is life insurance. Everyone knows they need it and never know when they will. The hard part is getting someone approved. Life insurance carriers look at your health, medication, and age to determine your rates. Now during conversations like this people think of every reason in the world to why they should wait to do this purchase. Like:
“I don’t have enough time today”
“I just need to think about it some more”
“It’s too expensive”
“I am healthy I don’t need life insurance”
Yesterday I received a phone call from a couple in OH who just turned 70 earlier this year. We talked 2 months after his birthday and he had no life insurance prior our conversation. He was also in pretty darn good shape for a 70 year old guy. I was able to provide him with a great plan with level benefits after much conversation as why NOW was the right time to purchase.
Fast forward to today and I heard back from that same client.
“I just wanted to call and thank you for the life insurance policy you sold me in May. Guess what happened? On June the 13, 2017. I had a double by-pass surgery and I am going through rehab now. I know if I didn’t have that heart attack I would not have been able to get the life insurance at all. I am so thankful that I purchased this life insurance policy when I did. Because at the time I had no idea I would have a heart attack one month later. Thank you, Brian, thank you!”
I let him know I still have a company that would say yes and approve him for life insurance. But he hit the nail on the head with it being more expensive and having more restrictions. This is one of many times that make me feel good about the work life insurance agents do. It is always better to be 5 years early rather to be 5 minutes too late.
